Sonilo Partners with Shutterstock to Build the Gold Standard in Licensed AI Music https://martechseries.com/video/sonilo-partners-with-shutterstock-to-build-the-gold-standard-in-licensed-ai-music/ Tue, 12 May 2026 07:46:39 +0000 https://martechseries.com/?p=399964 Sonilo

Shutterstock’s first-ever partnership with a video-to-music platform licenses its music catalog for AI model training—a new benchmark for responsible AI music

Sonilo, the world’s first professionally licensed video-to-music AI platform, announced a strategic partnership with Shutterstock, one of the world’s largest providers of licensed creative content.

Through this partnership, Sonilo has licensed Shutterstock’s high-quality music catalog for AI model training—making this Shutterstock’s first-ever partnership with a video-to-music AI platform. Sonilo is headquartered in San Francisco and backed by B Capital, a venture capital firm affiliated with the Boston Consulting Group focused on emerging technology startups expanding globally.

Marketing Technology News: MarTech Interview with Miguel Lopes, CPO @ TrafficGuard

Redefining licensed AI music for video

The AI music industry is at a crossroads. By 2025, infringement cases filed against AI companies had surged by more than 130% year over year. The dominant response from AI music platforms has been to train on unlicensed content first and deal with the legal consequences later—producing AI-generated music that not only raises serious copyright concerns, but floods the internet with low-quality content that shortchanges creators and audiences alike.

Sonilo is built to address these problems. Powered by its proprietary Sonilo v1.0 model, Sonilo takes the video itself as input rather than relying on text prompts. It reads the footage, understands its pacing, structure and emotional arc, and composes an original soundtrack to match. No prompts, no library searches, and no manual syncing. Every soundtrack generated is original, production-ready, and cleared for commercial use—no additional licensing required, whether for social content, branded video, or broadcast use.

Most AI music platforms have treated licensing as an afterthought, training on copyrighted content without authorization and leaving artists without compensation. Sonilo was built differently. By securing professional licensing partnerships upfront, Sonilo ensures that every model it trains is built on content that artists have consented to and been compensated for. This partnership with Shutterstock is a direct expression of that commitment: the music industry doesn’t have to choose between innovation and integrity.

“Music has always been the last unsolved layer of video creation, and video has always carried its own soundtrack,” said Shawn Song, CEO, Sonilo. “We built Sonilo to hear it and compose from it, without a single text prompt. But how we build matters as much as what we build. While others have chosen to take artists’ work without permission and charge creators for the privilege, we’ve chosen a different path—one where artists are compensated from day one. Partnering with Shutterstock reflects that standard. Every model we train meets a bar the music industry can stand behind, because the most innovative AI platforms don’t have to come at the expense of the artists who make all of these possible.”

“AI innovation depends on access to high-quality, rights-cleared content and trusted licensing partnerships,” said Jessica April, Vice President, Data Licensing & AI Services, Shutterstock. “Sonilo’s approach reflects the growing demand for responsibly sourced training data and commercially safe AI workflows. We’re pleased to support companies building generative AI products with licensed content and scalable data solutions that help accelerate innovation while respecting creators and rights holders.”

Marketing Technology News: Disrupt or Be Disrupted: The AI Wake-Up Call for B2B Marketers

Scaling across platforms, built for every creator

This partnership is part of Sonilo’s broader momentum. Earlier this month, the platform launched as a native node inside ComfyUI, the open-source AI workflow tool used by over four million creators. Sonilo is also available via API for integration into video tools, creator platforms, game engines, and AI systems, and offers Free, Pro, and Premium tiers. Further platform integrations are planned throughout the rest of this year.

New addition to the Jina v5 model family delivers flexible, cost-efficient AI search across media types without rebuilding existing systems

Elastic, the Search AI Company, announced jina-embeddings-v5-omni, a new family of multimodal embedding models with the ability to represent text, images, video, and audio as vectors. Developers can now perform search, classification, clustering, and deduplication across different media types, giving users powerful new ways to understand and organize multimodal data.

Available in two sizes, small and nano, the new omni models share the exact same text embedding space as jina-embeddings-v5-text, so v5-text users can keep their existing index, swap in an omni model, and immediately index multimedia into the same vectors.

Marketing Technology News: MarTech Interview With Jay H. Lee, Chief Marketing and Growth Officer @ Five9

“Our goal with v5-omni is simple: make multimodal search as easy and scalable as text search already is,” said Ken Exner, chief product officer, Elastic. “By building on existing models and ensuring full compatibility, we’re giving teams a practical way to expand into images, audio, and video, without starting from scratch.”

Powered by a single universal language model that aligns all modalities, the v5-omni models also feature a modular design, so users can toggle text, image, and audio processing features as needed, offering flexibility and efficiency across a wide range of use cases. Key highlights include:

  • Multimodal Search: Supports text, image, video, and audio inputs
  • Best-in-class performance: For text, images, and audio recordings, v5-omni offers top performance for models of comparable size
  • Flexible Performance: Offers adjustable embedding sizes, allowing users to balance accuracy, speed, and cost
  • Efficiency at Scale: Optimized for lower storage and compute requirements through variable embedding sizes and quantization
  • Global Capabilities: Built with strong multilingual capabilities across dozens of languages
  • Seamless Upgrading: Maintains compatibility with existing v5 text embeddings, eliminating the need to re-index data

In independent evaluations, jina-embeddings-v5-omni provides frontier-class results across four modalities in one compact model:

  • Audio: v5-omni models rank best in their size class for audio retrieval on the Massive Audio Embedding Benchmark (MAEB), outperforming systems many times its size.
  • Image: On the Massive Image Embedding Benchmark (MIEB) and Visual Document Retrieval Benchmark (ViDoRe), v5-omni outperforms models up to 20x larger, including specialists that handle only a single modality. The v5-omni-small model is the top performing model in the 1B parameter range in visual similarity and image retrieval. In the multilingual sections of the MIEB, v5-omni models are state-of-the-art by a significant margin, outclassing models over double their size.
  • Text: v5-omni retains the frontier-level performance of jina-embeddings-v5-text, leading its size class in text retrieval, and beating models in the 7B–14B range on the Massive Multilingual Text Embedding Benchmark (MMTEB).
  • Video: On the Massive Multimodal Embedding Benchmark (MMEB-v2), v5-omni competes with video grounding models several times its size.

Beamr Research Validates Patented CABR Technology as an AI Training Asset https://martechseries.com/video/beamr-research-validates-patented-cabr-technology-as-an-ai-training-asset/ Thu, 07 May 2026 11:12:57 +0000 https://martechseries.com/?p=399798 logo

Training AI model on video data processed by Beamr’s content-adaptive technology made the model more resilient to compression, by lowering depth estimation error on safety-critical road users, including pedestrians and motorcyclists, by 30.7%

Beamr Imaging Ltd. (NASDAQ: BMR), a leader in video optimization technology and solutions, released research demonstrating that machine vision models fine-tuned on video compressed by Beamr’s patented Content-Adaptive Bitrate (CABR) technology are more resilient than models trained on uncompressed data, while reducing the video data volumes that machine vision development depends on.

Machine vision teams handling petabyte-scale video data for autonomous vehicles (AV) and other video AI applications typically consider compression as a process for managing this scale. The findings reframe adaptive compression as an asset that strengthens AI model resilience, with the advantages of reducing storage and networking costs and infrastructure. This research extends Beamr’s ML-Safe benchmarks, validating a potential performance asset for AI models trained across machine vision applications.

Marketing Technology News: MarTech Interview with Stephen Howard-Sarin, MD of Retail Media, Americas @ Criteo

The research evaluated Depth Anything V2, a state-of-the-art monocular depth estimation model. The model was fine-tuned on AV video data compressed with Beamr’s technology that delivered 35.2% file-size reduction relative to baseline compression. The fine-tuned model demonstrated 30.7% reduction in depth estimation error on vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and motorcyclists, and 16.0% aggregate reduction across all object classes. Full methodology and results are available in the blog post.

“This research shows that compressed video data can produce models that are more robust, not less,” said Dani Megrelishvili, Beamr CPO. “That points to a different role for compression in our customers’ pipelines, from a cost they tolerate to a tool they deploy.”

Marketing Technology News: From MarTech Stack to MarTech Fabric: Weaving Brand, Content, and Conversion Into One Thread

“Machine vision teams have faced a structural trade-off: compress video data to manage scale, or face the escalating costs and infrastructure challenges of running AI models without compression,” said Ronen Nissim, ML Lead at Beamr. “Our research suggests this trade-off is more flexible than the industry may have assumed. By using compressed footage as augmentation during fine-tuning, we produced a model that performed better on the validation set than the equivalent model trained on uncompressed data.”

Beamr’s ML-safe benchmarks have previously validated content-adaptive compression across the AV development pipeline. The benchmarks demonstrated up to 50% file size reduction while preserving object detection accuracy at mean average precision of 0.96, with high fidelity across detection, localization, and confidence consistency. Subsequent testing for captioning workflows in world foundation model pipelines showed 41%–57% file size reduction with no measurable impact on the pipeline outputs.

KERV.ai Unlocks the Power of Commerce Video with the Launch of Moment Match Engine™ https://martechseries.com/sales-marketing/programmatic-buying/kerv-ai-unlocks-the-power-of-commerce-video-with-the-launch-of-moment-match-engine/ Tue, 05 May 2026 13:56:27 +0000 https://martechseries.com/?p=399627

KERV

Trusted by the industry’s leading advertisers and publishers, the solution leverages real-time contextual video intelligence and pod-level targeting to connect viewers to commerce in high-attention and high-intent moments

KERV.ai is betting that the future of advertising won’t be defined by ad placements—but by the moments that actually matter.

Today, the company introduced Moment Match Engine™, an AI-powered solution that identifies the most meaningful moments in video content and aligns them with brand and product signals, unlocking greater monetization value for publishers, improved engagement for advertisers, and seamless commerce and brand discovery for viewers.

Rather than treating content as a singular opportunity for delivery, KERV.ai’s approach captures moments when attention peaks and intent signals emerge—turning those high-value instances into opportunities for connection. Through seamless integrations with leading publishers, retailers, and ad platforms, the Moment Match Engine improves engagement by enabling existing media to work with interactive commerce experiences in real time, driving measurable outcomes. KERV.ai’s proprietary AI and image recognition technology ingests and analyzes both video-on-demand and live video content to generate actionable signals that identify high-value moments when consumers are most engaged and likely to convert.

Marketing Technology News: MarTech Interview with Stephen Howard-Sarin, MD of Retail Media, Americas @ Criteo

Powered by patented product recognition technology, KERV.ai enriches existing video at scale—down to the pixel level—uncovering the true meaning of each scene. This creates new layers of contextual signals that understand not just what’s in the content, but what matters within it. The result is a system that enables advertisers to appear in the moments most likely to drive action, without disrupting the viewing experience or compromising brand safety or suitability.

For publishers, Moment Match Engine introduces a new model centered on diverse, scalable value creation within content itself. By leveraging deep contextual signals, publishers can surface brand and commerce experiences that feel additive to the viewing experience while maintaining full control through advanced metadata validation layers and industry-trusted compliance frameworks.

Marketing Technology News: From MarTech Stack to MarTech Fabric: Weaving Brand, Content, and Conversion Into One Thread

“Historically, advertising has been about inserting messages into content,” said Gary Mittman, CEO of KERV.ai. “We’re shifting that model to align with the moments that already carry meaning, so the experience feels natural and welcomed by the viewer, driving more value for the publisher, and ultimately greater outcomes for brands.”

For advertisers, the platform offers a way to move beyond broad contextual targeting toward true moment-level precision and relevance. Brands can align themselves with high-attention, high-intent scenes, unlocking deeper product discoverability and performance, particularly within premium CTV environments where engagement is highest.

By connecting discovery, consideration, and action within a single experience, KERV.ai aims to collapse the traditional funnel, enabling brands to drive measurable outcomes without sacrificing quality or context. Advertisers can activate across CTV, online video, programmatic, and direct channels, with flexibility to match their buying strategies and campaign objectives.

For viewers, the experience is designed to feel seamless and intuitive, with opportunities to explore or engage with brands emerging naturally from the content itself. Whether through interactive overlays or pause-based experiences, commerce and even dynamic product discovery become a welcome part of the story, not a disruption.

The company has been working with major media partners across a variety of other collaborations blending content and commerce seamlessly, including NBCUniversal and Warner Bros. Discovery. Brands and agencies leveraging the Moment Match Engine technology for enhanced contextualization include IKEA, Carat, and dentsu’s broader media practice.

Early results point to the effectiveness of moment-driven activation. An interactive, in-stream online video campaign for IKEA and Carat saw interaction rates across contextually targeted placements 129% above those of standard 3P behavioral placements.

As the industry evolves, KERV.ai is positioning Moment Match Engine to bring greater intelligence and relevance to video—connecting premium content, brands, and commerce in more meaningful ways. This launch builds on KERV.ai’s continued investment in contextual intelligence and its Contextual Marketplace, further advancing its mission to transform passive video into interactive commerce and discovery experiences.

“At Carat, we’re focused on helping brands show up in the moments that truly matter—where attention is highest, and intent is strongest,” said Mike Law, CEO of Carat North America. “KERV’s object-level contextual precision and relevancy enable a new level of targeting, allowing us to enable brands to align with those high-value, leaned-in moments and drive tangible outcomes for our clients.”

“At Warner Bros. Discovery, our products Shop HBO Max & Moments seamlessly connect premium storytelling with meaningful brand impact and product discovery,” said Derek Gatts, VP, Advertising Strategy & Innovation at Warner Bros. Discovery. “KERV’s Moment Match technology plays a key role in enhancing our solutions’ precise product alignment and scene-level adjacency, ensuring brands show up in the right context, with the right product or message, at the right time. By pairing our best in-class content portfolio with this level of contextual intelligence, we’re able to drive impact across the full consumer journey, from awareness and engagement through to measurable sales lift.”
